عندما أجرت مؤسسة صلة للتنمية دراسة ميدانية في أرياف حضرموت عام 2016، كشفت النتائج أن أكثر من 60% من الفتيات لم يكملن تعليمهن الأساسي … لكن التحدي لم يكن تعليمياً فقط , فالمجتمعات نفسها كانت تعاني أيضاً من نقص المعلمات والممرضات والقابلات، مما أثر على فرص التعليم والحصول على الخدمات الصحية في آنٍ واحد. *لذلك لم يُنظر إلى تعليم الفتاة كهدف مستقل، بل كمدخل لتعزيز المنظومة المجتمعية بأكملها.* على مدى السنوات التالية، التحقت فتيات ريفيات بمسارات تعليمية ومهنية في التدريس والتمريض والقبالة والإرشاد الأسري، ليصبحن جزءاً من الحل داخل مجتمعاتهن. وربما كان الأثر الأهم هو التغيير في النظرة المجتمعية؛ فبعد أن كان تعليم الفتاة يتوقف عند مراحل مبكرة، أصبحت كثير من الأسر تدعم استكمال بناتها للتعليم الجامعي والتخصصي. في البيئات الهشة، لا يتحقق التغيير المستدام بمعالجة مشكلة واحدة فقط، بل بفهم الترابط بين التعليم والصحة وتمكين المرأة وبناء قدرة المجتمع على الصمود. When Selah Foundation conducted a field assessment in rural Hadramout in 2016, one finding stood out: more than 60% of girls were dropping out before completing basic education. The challenge, however, was bigger than education. The same communities were also facing shortages of female teachers, nurses, and midwives—creating barriers to both learning and healthcare access. This reality shaped a different approach: investing in girls’ education not as an isolated objective, but as a pathway to strengthen local systems. Over the years, rural girls pursued qualifications in teaching, nursing, midwifery, and community services. The result was not only more educated women, but stronger communities with locally rooted professionals serving their own villages. One of the most meaningful outcomes has been the shift in social attitudes. Communities that once viewed girls’ education as unnecessary are now supporting university studies and professional careers for their daughters. In fragile contexts, sustainable change rarely comes from addressing a single challenge in isolation.
